Pound Cake

3 C less 6T sugar
1 C shortening
1 t salt
1 1/4 t vanilla
6 eggs
3 C flour--sifted
1/4 t soda mixed in 1C + 5T buttermilk

Cream sugar, shortening and salt, add eggs and vanilla, mix until smooth.
Add buttermilk with soda mixed in.
Add flour slowly and blend well.
Grease and flour Bundt pan. Start in cold oven set to 300 degrees. Cook for 2 hours.
